9:40 \u2013 10:10<\/strong> \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Keynote: “Piloting a Sea of Change: Bibliographic and Authority Data in a New World” By Paul Frank<\/p>\n

Paul\u00a0Frank, Library of Congress, is the coordinator for the Name Authority Cooperative Program (NACO) and the Subject Authority Cooperative Program (SACO), two constituent programs of the Program for Cooperative Cataloging (PCC), an international cooperative with over 900 institutional members. NACO and SACO are authority-based programs that maintain the LC\/NACO Authority File and the LC\/SACO Authority File.\u00a0Paul\u00a0is also one of the trainers for the Library of Congress BIBFRAME Pilots. The Library of Congress is testing BIBFRAME for bibliographic description through pilot projects that began with BIBFRAME Pilot Phase One (August 2015 – March 2016), and continues with Pilot Phase Two (June 2017-\u00a0 ). BIBFRAME is a major community challenge to provide an alternative to the deeply embedded MARC formats that will be more compatible with the Internet and the Linked Data Environment, and that offers new opportunities to leverage resource information. There is a very strong link between authority work and BIBFRAME.\u00a0Paul\u00a0will explore this connection in the keynote address.<\/p>\n
